Dr Paulina Wong Wai-ying has been teaching at the Department of Creative Arts and Physical Education since the HKIEd’s establishment in 1994. Time flies and 15 years have gone by. Having grown together with the Institute, they are both celebrating
their 15th “anniversaries”.
Eight years ago, Zerlina Wong Wai-ching followed her sister Paulina’s footsteps and joined the Institute, becoming colleagues in the same music division ever since. They also work side-by-side with just a wall between them, as their offices are next to each other. The two sisters therefore see each other day and night. Dr Wong describes their sibling relationship as very “three-dimensional” because there are many overlapping roles and identities between the two of them. Nevertheless, Dr Wong states categorically that when official matters or issues arise, there is always a clear distinction between what is official and what is private.
“At work or in meetings, I naturally call my sister ‘Zerlina’; but during holidays or at home, I often call her by her Chinese name ‘Ching-ching’.”
Dr Wong elaborated.
