Dr George Ngai Siu-keung is a graduate of the Northcote College of Education. Since he joined the HKIEd in 1995, he is yet another “IEd veteran”.

“I can still remember November 1997, when we all moved to the Tai Po Campus from the old office at Morrison Hill. Everything was new – new offices, new computers, new surroundings! I can use the word “blooming” to describe the entire environment. Even the food from the canteen at Block E tasted exceptionally good!” recalls Dr Ngai.

Dr Ngai is fully committed to teaching at the HKIEd. He believes passionately that the Institute has a unique mission of its own, turning all graduates into quality teachers.

“Whether we are coaching students or our own children, mutual respect and sufficient space for them to flourish are essential. We need only to inspire them, not to restrain them. At the same time, whether teachers, mentors or fathers, we should pursue our own self-advancement continuously. We can no longer rely on the so-called “rotten gags” routine of bygone days, when teachers resorted to jokes that students didn’t think were funny. We must move with the times.” Dr Ngai remarked.
