The above are not qualifications for admission to the Master of Education programme at the Institute. But one of our students in this programme has such experience. This student emphasises the teaching he offers is not for fame or wealth; it is his aspiration to serve others more than to console himself.

This kindly looking uncle comes from a family whose members have engaged in the ancient and learned professions for more than three generations. “Uncle” Chung became an overseas schoolboy in England from Hong Kong when he was 17. He learnt the use of English in England, United States and in Canada, where he practised law. Now that he is retired, he devotes his time to share with others what he knows about the English language and the use of English, and to research ways to effectively help fellow Chinese nationals to better acquire the use of English as a second language. He enrolled at the Institute because of the Institute’s mission (to foster future teachers), our beautiful campus, our aspiring students and our learning ethos.

Arthur likes to stay in the library at the Institute. Does that manifest a commitment to lifelong learning?
