“When I did my pre-service training, I found that school librarians, in general, are also teachers in the school. So I thought being a teacher librarian in school should be a pretty good choice for a book lover like me.” Belinda recalls. That glimmer of an idea in her mind led Belinda to realise her dream. By switching from being a PE and language teacher to an Assistant Librarian, Belinda not only continues to use her teacher training at the Institute, but she also applies her frontline experience to the understanding of students’ needs. She finds that her background is very helpful in organising all sorts of reading promotion activities.

Belinda, who used to be the striker in her basketball team, recently transferred to the Lending Services Section. She compares her current position to that of being the centre player in a game team. Her work ideal is similar to a sports team — everybody in the organisation does his or her best in their own positions. On top of that, there should be harmony and close cooperation in the workplace to foster really good team spirit.
