If you receive a suspicious email, it’s important to handle it with caution to protect your sensitive information. Here are some steps you can follow:
- Do not open any attachments or click on any links in the email if you do not recognize the sender or if the content seems suspicious.
- Check the sender’s email address for any misspellings or unusual variations that might indicate a phishing attempt.
- Look for any spelling or grammatical errors in the email, as these can be signs of a phishing email.
- Verify any urgent requests for information or action through alternative means of communication, such as a phone call.
- Report the suspicious email to the anti-spam system (Report spam email). Or you can forward the email to helpdesk@ocio.eduhk.hk or contact IT Help Desk at 29486601.
In order to help users identify phishing emails, you can refer to the video available in the "FAQ: How to identify phishing emails?".
