If you receive a suspicious email, it’s important to handle it with caution to protect your sensitive information. Here are some steps you can follow:

  1. Do not open any attachments or click on any links in the email if you do not recognize the sender or if the content seems suspicious.
  2. Check the sender’s email address for any misspellings or unusual variations that might indicate a phishing attempt.
  3. Look for any spelling or grammatical errors in the email, as these can be signs of a phishing email.
  4. Verify any urgent requests for information or action through alternative means of communication, such as a phone call.
  5. Report the suspicious email to the anti-spam system (Report spam email). Or you can forward the email to helpdesk@ocio.eduhk.hk or contact IT Help Desk at 29486601.

In order to help users identify phishing emails, you can refer to the video available in the "FAQ: How to identify phishing emails?".
