The International Conference on Gender, Language and Education
The Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies and the Department of Social Sciences jointly hosted the International Conference on Gender, Language and Education (ICGLE) from 2 to 4 December 2020 via Zoom. It successfully brought together academics, researchers, community leaders, education practitioners and research postgraduate students from the worldwide community to explore equality and diversity issues in language and education through a gendered lens. The conference theme was “Gender, Language and Education: Equality and Diversity Issues in Asia and Beyond”. There were around 70 paper presentations and themed panel discussions covering topics related to Sexuality Diversity, Gender and Literature, Gender and Language, and Gender and Education. More than 80 local and international scholars from Asia, America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East joined the conference.
