Professor Paul Morris, President (right) sent our best regards to Prof Chan.
With this verse freely adapted from "Lament", a contemporary poem written by the modern Chinese poet Yu Ping-bai, Professor Chan Wing-ming concluded his two hour pre-retirement seminar on 3 June 2004 with mixed feelings of melancholy and hope. Charismatic as ever, Professor Chan peppered his farewell speech with analogies, puns and jokes which made the lecture theatre, packed with students from his teaching days at CUHK, HKBU and of course HKIEd, roar with laughter.
