A highlight of the summer for seventy Form 1 and 2 students from the Tai Po district was the opportunity to spend one week in a fun-filled English Summer Camp, taught by English Department student teachers and organised by the Centre for Language in Education.
The two, 5-day camps were run in July and August, as part of the Institute's 10th Anniversary celebrations. The curriculum was conceived by student teachers who exercised their imagination in designing innovative and interesting activities. The bare minimum of regular, teacher-fronted classes and the 'Play to learn' orientation they adopted ensured the camps were unforgettable learning adventures for all.
Each camp opened with an orientation activity, a Treasure Hunt, in which
students followed clues to find their way around the campus. The overall theme,
"Around the world in five days", embraced cultural enrichment with
daily explorations of "Celebrations",
"Food and Cooking", "Sports
and Games" and "Music and Dance",
from international perspectives.
