These gratifying results were reinforced by evidence of ongoing improvement. Graduates of the 2002 cohort performed even better than graduates of 2001. The performance of 2001 graduates, according to the principals, improved significantly after having one more year of post-qualification teaching experience. The findings of the longitudinal surveys in 2002 and 2003 also indicated consistent improvement in the relevance of HKIEd teaching programmes and the quality of our graduates.

The findings included 700 suggestions in the form of open-ended comments collected from the respondents containing numerous enthusiastic responses and remarks made by principals and graduates. With this encouragement, the Institute is determined to work even harder to fulfil its mission of nurturing through its programmes knowledgeable, caring and responsible teachers who will serve the needs of Hong Kong.
