A Word from International Staff: French International Tutors Present a French Breakfast

The Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies has launched the Minor in French Studies and, for this, a French international tutor has joined the University to help students learn French and to promote French culture. Amélia Mongellas is your tutor of French and is at your disposal to answer any questions about the French language or culture.  Amélia can also explain the professional opportunities you may have after learning French. Indeed, 54 countries are part of the Francophonie, and learning French is a real asset in the world of work.

To introduce students to the French way of life, Amélia organizes French tutorials and events. The French Breakfast, held on 24 October 2018, attracted many students. Students enjoyed Amélia’s homemade mini-croissants and learned more about the French culture and language.

About Amélia Mongellas

I come from Réunion Island, a little French island in the Indian Ocean, near Mauritius Island and Madagascar. I was born and grew up there. I moved to France for my career. I earned a master’s degree in Cultural Events Management, then later a master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language. I did my internship in Manila, the Philippines. Then I applied for the position of French tutor, and here I am! I am going to set up events such as an orienteering race, a karaoke evening and some movie screenings. I would also like to set up French workshops based on photography and create some French podcasts with students through a web radio.
