Big shoutout to Dr. Liubov Darzhinova, ELE's postdoctoral researcher, for her amazing experience at the AAAL Conference in Houston last month! This conference is truly special to her because she has been involved as a poster presenter, reviewer and volunteer in the past. This year, she had the privilege of presenting her postdoctoral project on using technology to assess pre-service English teachers in Hong Kong. It's an honor to have her work supported by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong.

One of the absolute highlights for Dr. Darzhinova was connecting with a passionate group of advocates for the Tunica language. This language, once believed to be extinct, is now making a remarkable comeback. As someone who has been witnessing her first language, Kalmyk, at risk of becoming extinct, she feels a deep connection to their cause. Last summer, Dr. Darzhinova developed and launched the freely available online conversational 39-lesson Kalmyk course on Transparent Language Online. Keep up the great work, Dr. Darzhinova!
