The Retreat of the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) was successfully held on 18 March 2019 at Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Shatin. The Retreat aimed to provide a platform for the Dean, Associate Deans, Heads and Associate Heads of the FHM’s constituent units, Programme Leaders (PL) of Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate programmes, as well as PLs and the Faculty Coordinator of the Certificate in Professional Development Programmes, to share their views on the direction and the strategic development of the Faculty, in particular issues relevant to the University’s Strategic Plan 2016-2025 on three areas: 1) Academic Development; 2) Research and Knowledge Transfer; and 3) Management and Infrastructure with reference to the Key Performance Indicators of the University.

The Retreat contained three sessions in which colleagues were divided into three groups, mainly in accordance with their roles in the Faculty to facilitate discussion on relevant topics, such as vision and mission, learning and teaching, academic development and programme management, as well as research and knowledge transfer.

Participants found that the Retreat was a valuable platform to facilitate exchange of views and brainstorming of important issues relevant to the development of the Faculty.
