Advancing SDGs Through Education: EdUHK x Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda Collaboration
In Jan 2024, Prof. Lo Sing Kai led a delegation to Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, launching a project to strengthen academic ties. The partnership grew in Dec 2024 with FHM’s event, “Hong Kong Meets Kazakhstan”, convened by Prof. John Erni, fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
The collaboration reached new heights between March 5–14, 2025, when Dr. Ju Seong Lee (ELE) and Dr. Norman Mendoza (C&I) conducted an intensive 10-day workshop for 70+ lecturers and students. Dr. Lee explored AI-powered motivation in digital English learning, while Dr. Mendoza focused on education psychology, research methods, and publishing strategies. Their sessions blended tech and teaching to improve education, student well-being, and research impact.
Participants praised the program's practical value. Rector Karimova called it "transformative," sparking ideas for publications and grants. Vice Rector Abdrasheva expressed strong interest in further collaboration with EdUHK.
Dr. Lee and Dr. Mendoza also engaged 100+ undergraduates in a seminar, highlighting EdUHK’s world-class programs, scholarships, and opportunities.
Aligned with SDG 3, 4, 10, and 17, this initiative promotes quality education, reduces inequality, and builds global partnerships, expanding EdUHK’s impact across Belt and Road nations.
