Fifteen Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) students went to Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand for two-weeks of cultural immersion and active learning in June 2004. Without row after row of fixed seats, without teachers lecturing from the front of the class to students listening passively below, the Active Learning programme left a deep impression on our group. They felt that the active learning students were truly focused, and that the learning atmosphere was happy and serene.
