EdUHK is truly international.
Working with other sister institutions at HUCOM Standing Committee on Internationalisation (HUCOMSCI), EdUHK took an active part in APAIE 2024 to promote the “Study in Hong Kong” and reinforce the presence of Hong Kong higher education globally.
We have Prof. Ken YUNG Kin-Lam, Associate Vice President (Research), Mr Donny SIU Koon-Ming, Director of Global Affairs, and Ms Jin ZHANG, Global Affairs Manager in the EdUHK delegation which have had very fruitful exchange with over 30 current and new partners from around the globe such as the University of Western Australia (Australia), Hanyang University (Korea), National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), Sabanci University (Türkiye), University of British Columbia (Canada), Sophia University (Japan), National University of Singapore (Singapore), University of Bacelona (Spain), etc., among others.
On 6 March, EdUHK Prof. Ken YUNG represented the Hong Kong SAR delegation in a joint presentation titled "Hong Kong's Advantages: New Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area" conducted by Dr. Christine CHOI, Secretary for Education of HKSAR, Prof. James TANG, Secretary-General of the University Grant Committee (UGC) and Prof. Ian HOLIDAY, Vice President of HKU. The presentation highlighted Hong Kong SAR's unique advantages as an international education hub. The integration of learning opportunities in the Greater Bay Area with those in Hong Kong benefits both local and international students, underlining the significance and necessity of non-local learning experiences in today's globalized era.
Dr. CHOI invited Mr. Robert ZSEMBER, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education in Slovakia, to pay a visit to EdUHK's booth, holding a brief discussion with Dr. CHOI and Prof. YUNG about higher education development. Mr ZSEMBER valued the importance of education in talent development for the world and appreciated EdUHK’s important role in bridging educators and talents through Hong Kong SAR with the world.
As part of the APAIE 2024, we have fostered both our ongoing and prospective collaborations with global higher education institutions. These partnerships encompass various aspects such as student exchanges, Global Summer short programs, and academic collaborations. This has facilitated deeper cooperation between us and these institutions, thereby integrating our university into the global higher education community.
