International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics (ICELEAL 2024)

Jointly organised by the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) of the Education University of Hong Kong and Beijing Foreign Studies University, the 2nd International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics (ICELEAL 2024) was successfully held from 23 to 25 August 2024 at Beijing Foreign Studies University.

Back in 2022, FHM joined hands with Beijing Foreign Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, South China Normal University, and City University of Macau, and organised the first ICELEAL conference in Hong Kong in December 2022. It was a great success.

Building on that success, it was a thrill to witness the second ICELEAL conference being jointly held with the 20th ChinaCALL conference at Beijing Foreign Studies University. This event brought together academics from around the world to report on their various research work related to Computer-Assisted Language Learning, English Language Education, and Applied Linguistics.

The joint conference attracted over 100 presenters from around the world, making it a resounding success. Participants engaged in insightful discussions during the three pre-conference invited speech sessions, eight keynote sessions, and 18 parallel sessions, covering a wide range of topics in Computer-Assisted Language Learning, English Language Education, and Applied Linguistics. The high quality of the academic programme was greatly appreciated by all attendees. Dr Wang Lixun, Associate Dean (International Engagement) of FHM, gave a keynote speech on multilingual education at the conference. Dr Ma Qing, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of FHM, gave an invited speech on corpus linguistics at the conference. Both speeches were very well received, underscoring EdUHK's prominent role in advancing the fields of language education and applied linguistics.
