Joined by the Hong Kong Children's Go College and supporting schools, the
First Hong Kong Inter-school Go Tournament was launched on 30 May 2004. This
territory-wide competition received an overwhelming response with 828 students
formed into 276 teams representing over 90 schools. The participation rate
is telling evidence of how Hong Kong students really enjoy the chance to compete!
The day of the competition
arrived with over 1,000 participants and supporters gathered at the
HKIEd Jockey Club Primary School. What are these little minds actually
thinking when they play?

Dr

registrations from 276 teams with over 800 participants.
"We feel very nervous during the game. Though we failed
to
enter the semi-finals, our teachers have not only taught us
to rejoice at victory, but also to accept defeat without bearing a grudge.
Losing the game means we really need to work harder to
improve!" (Chan Chun-yin, Liu Ka-yin, Ng Yat-fung,
Primary 2 students)
"We need to calculate every move of our opponents
and this helps to train our minds. Playing Go is my
favourite hobby, I can make more friends by doing so!"
(Henry Leung, Carson Fung, Choi Cheuk-wang,
Primary 3 students)
