Dr
Alice Lam, GBS, JP, Chairman of the University Grants Committee addressing the
freshmen at the First Assembly held on 8 September. She told the freshmen that
the community has high expectations of its teachers, especially the new generation
of graduates, to serve as catalysts in education reform. To prepare for the
challenges ahead, she encouraged them to make good use of the time in the coming
few years to develop themselves academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually
for the teaching profession.
Dr
Magdalena Mok, Principal Lecturer of HKIEd's Department of Educational Psychology,
Counselling and Learning Needs is presented with the Distinguished Teacher's
Award at the First Assembly by Dr Alice Lam, GBS, JP. Dr Mok's genuine concern
for student development, outstanding teaching practices, and engagement in scholarship
and curriculum development have gained her the award this year. Her dedication
and enthusiasm is highly rated by her students.
Three colleagues from the Information and
Applied Technology Department were awarded Certificates of Merit for
their substantial contributions to quality teaching and learning. They
are: Dr Kenneth Volk, Dr Christina Yu and Mrs Millie Yung.
