‘Comparative Cultures of Care: An Interdisciplinary Project’, a research track under the International Research Centre for Cultural Studies (IRCCS) and FHM, has announced the launch of their One-minute Keyword Reels Series.
The dynamic short videos feature insights from fourteen speakers from the ‘Hong Kong 2023 Humanities Conference on Comparative Cultures of Care’, held on 2-3 November 2023. Each short video reveals a keyword representing an aspect they passionately care about, to which they have dedicated extensive academic efforts and research. These concise yet impactful reels offer a glimpse into the intricate tapestry of care, showcasing the diverse perspectives that emerged during the conference.
The 15 keywords presented include immunisation, schools, more-than-human, child-care, autosociobiography, scale, agency, alterity, waste, child, polyphony, awkward entanglements, aesthetic-social turn, inversion, and contradictions. Each serves as a doorway to a unique facet of care, highlighting the complexity and richness inherent in the subject.
As Prof John Erni remarked in his reels, “The more we care, the more we realise [care] is not such a simple matter.” This, together with all these keywords, encapsulates the essence of our project, emphasising that care is multi-dimensional, requiring continuous nuanced exploration and understanding.
This Keyword Reels Series is now available on the project’s social media platforms:
