In the academic year 2022/23, the French International Tutors organised different activities under the theme of French Cafés; all activities are open to all EdUHK students and staff members. Each activity lasted for one to two hours; the participants were invited to discover different aspects of French culture, such as teatime habits, the education system or handicrafts.
During the period from January to June 2023, two sessions were organised, including:
- "Apollinaire" was held in February. Students and staff members were invited to write calligrams, a form of poetry invented by the famous French writer "Apollinaire". The activity gained enthusiastic responses.
- "Goute" was held in April. Participants were invited to experience the French teatime tradition called "goûté".
Through these activities, the participants can practice their French speaking skills and learn some new words and expressions. The goal is to discover, learn, be curious, and compare the differences between cultures.
Joining French Cafés and workshops is a friendly way to get in touch with the French culture and language. It is also an opportunity to meet people around a warm coffee and a delicious pastry!
