MATCIL received IB Re-certification

Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as an International Language (MATCIL) obtained the International Baccalaureate (IB) Educator Certificate (Diploma Programme [DP]) in January 2017 and was permitted to offer IB-recognised programme of study leading to the IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning (DP). Towards the end of 2022, the programme applied for a renewal with IB Organisation (IBO).

The virtual renewal visit was held on 15 May 2023 as part of the renewal process. We are pleased to invite Dr Chin Chi On (Asso Dean [R&PS] [HM]), Dr Liang Yuan (Acting HoD of CHL), Prof Si Chung Mou, Dr Cheung Lin Hong, Dr Li Zhen, Dr Yan Jing and Ms Wang Chan Juan to participate in the meeting with the IB recognition renewal team – Dr Gerard Calnin (Chair of IBEC Consultant) and Ms Sue Richards. The IB recognition renewal team was very pleased to hear about the development of MATCIL, and they recommended that the DP certificate be renewed for a further period of six years. A positive renewal report has been received from IBO, and the programme will closely follow up on the recommendations provided by IBO.
