The Faculty of Humanities aspires to be a leading academic center for the pursuit of humanistic inquiries in an interdisciplinary environment. We promote the pursuit of academic knowledge, artistic excellence, cross-cultural awareness and global competencies, with a view to nurturing our graduates through a wide spectrum of the humanities. We strive for excellence in research, teaching innovations and artistic achievements in order to address complex issues in society through human imagination and to foster a cosmopolitan outlook using the robust philosophy and new methods of the humanities.

  • Building upon our long-established strengths in Language, Linguistics, Literature, History, Cultural Studies and Creative Arts to offer high quality humanities education and interdisciplinary programmes that respond to the demands of society in Hong Kong and beyond;
  • Providing a vibrant and supportive research environment for conducting cutting-edge research and artistic endeavours, with growing academic, professional and social impact locally, regionally and internationally;
  • Nurturing professionally excellent, ethically responsible and creatively-minded graduates with effective communication skills, multicultural awareness, artistic sensitivity, and digital competence; and
