To celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture (RCCLLC), a wealth of activities have been held in the first half of 2019. RCCLLC has been co-organising monthly the “Hong Kong Literary Culture Salons” together with the programme of Hong Kong Studies from The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Literature Centre from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Division of Languages and Communication from the Community College of City University of Hong Kong. In the first half of 2019, four salon events have already been held, focusing respectively on the topic of Hong Kong folk music, Cantonese opera, modern Hong Kong history and the lyrical tradition of Hong Kong literature. Also, in March, at the invitation of our Centre, Professor Shiu Wen Wei of National Dong Hwa University, delivered a talk outlining the significant critical effort and literary achievement of Lin Yu Tang. Furthermore, in April, Dr Wong Kwok Kui, Associate Professor of Hong Kong Baptist University, delivered a public seminar titled “Time and Poetics”, detailing the relationship between language and the flow of time in the plays of Shakespeare. Adopting a comparative perspective, the then Director, Professor Leonard Chan Kwok Kou Associate Directors Drs Au Chung To and Yip Cheuk Wai shared their views of the novel Shamon Kukai Tou no Kuni nite Oni to Utagesu（《沙門空海——大唐鬼宴》） written by Baku Yumemakura as well as the adapted movie Legend of the Demon Cat in our Centre. Last but not least, the 3rd Undergraduate Academic Conference was held on 28 June, offering an academic platform where students from Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan presented their academic works and learnt from each other. In celebration of the 10th anniversary milestone, RCCLLC will continue to dedicate itself to organising activities and exhibitions as well as publications.
