The Faculty of Humanities (FHM) held a research postgraduate (RPg) student gathering on 21 October 2024. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity for RPg students to discuss their research journeys, share research insights, and exchange ideas with their peers, supervisors, and faculty management.
Dr Angel Ma, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies), welcomed new students, introduced the FHM community, and emphasised the research support and training provided by FHM.
Prof Timothy Chan, Head of the Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL), shared his views on the importance of research publication and provided advice on preparing for future careers as scholars and academics.
Prof Mette Hjort, Head of the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies (LCS), highlighted the value of research networks, the relationship and the synergistic effect of building both strong and weak ties of connection.
Prof John Erni, Dean of FHM encouraged students to be part of the research community with uniqueness, originality, and professionalism. He also urged students to step up and seize opportunities to participate in various research activities, build networks not only within their areas of expertise but also outside their field, and enjoy the research journey.
We appreciate all who participated and helped make the event a success. Stay tuned for more exciting news on our research and academic activities!
