FHM held a research postgraduate (RPg) student gathering on 20 February 2025. The gathering provided an excellent platform for RPg students to exchange ideas with experienced peers, share their research experience, and gain insights from Faculty management.
Dean Prof John Erni welcomed new researchers and introduced them to the Faculty's vibrant research community. He emphasised the crucial role of international conference participation in academic growth, highlighting how presenting research papers at these forums can advance scholarly development. The Dean also encouraged students to become active researchers and leverage overseas conferences as opportunities to network with scholars in their respective fields, thereby creating opportunities for future collaboration.
His insightful remarks were followed by an inspiring workshop and sharing session. At the workshop, Dr Artem Zadorozhnyy, post-doctoral fellow from the Department of English Language Education, highlighted researchers' multi-dimensional roles, encouraging students to consider the meaning behind publications, extend their impact beyond academia, and embrace digital innovations. At the sharing session, Mr Yan Jiaho from the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies shared practical advice on research progression, emphasising the importance of mentor guidance, peer support, and effective utilisation of university resources and funding opportunities for research activities.
