Dr Angel Ma, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of the Faculty of Humanities, received the prestigious 2025 TESOL Award for Excellence in Research from TESOL International Association. This award recognises her groundbreaking contributions to the field of TESOL research.
Dr Ma’s study introduces an innovative approach to enhancing pre-service TESOL teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) in corpus technology, also known as Corpus-Based Language Pedagogy (CBLP). Her research uniquely examines how online collaborative learning influences the development of CBLP. By analysing both intra- and inter-group interactions, the study provides valuable insights into the collaborative knowledge construction process. The findings underscore the effectiveness of online collaboration in deepening pre-service teachers' understanding and practical application of corpus technology in language education.
On 19 March, Dr Ma delivered a featured speech at the 2025 TESOL Convention in California and participated in an exclusive interview for the Graduate Student Forum. Her innovative research has not only inspired TESOL attendees and graduate students but has also set new directions for future TESOL teacher professional development.
