Join the Video Competition: Express Your Gratitude to FHM Teachers!
As we reflect on this academic year, have you thought about expressing your appreciation to the teachers who have inspired, supported, and motivated you on your academic journey? Here’s your chance to organize a memorable activity—such as chartering a tram party, a night squid fishing trip, a banquet, a party room gathering for karaoke, or even hosting a seminar or publishing a book—to thank your teachers.
This is not just an opportunity to create lasting memories with your teachers and friends—it’s also a meaningful way to foster a culture of care in our University community and show gratitude for the impactful work of our educators.
You’re invited to participate in the Video Competition of Showing Appreciation to Teachers, organized by the Centre for Language in Education (CLE) and supported by the Faculty of Humanities (FHM). Details are as follows:
Target Participants
All FHM full-time undergraduate students
Competition Details and Requirements
Phase 1: Submit an Activity Plan
1. Form a group of at least three members.
2. Develop a creative activity plan to show appreciation to your teacher(s), including course teachers, field experience/internship supervisors, or academic advisors in FHM.
3. Submit the following required items of the activity plan by 5 pm, 20 June 2025 (Friday) to Ms. Yumi Ye at ypwye@eduhk.hk:
- A 5-10 minute video (in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua proportionally) explaining your activity details. Save your video on OneDrive or Google Drive and share the link.
- A written rationale for choosing the activity. Please use the template provided in the email sent on 11 March 2025.
- A detailed budget plan (expenses capped at HK$3,000).
4. A faculty-level selection panel will choose the ten best submissions for approval by the Chair of the Task Force on Comparative Cultures of Care.
Phase 2: Implement Your Activity & Video Shooting
1. Results of the top ten submissions will be announced via email by 18 July 2025. These groups can then implement their proposed activities with expenses reimbursed up to HK$3,000.
2. During your activity, record a 5- to 10-minute video in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua. The content should align with the competition theme, such as expressing gratitude, sharing positive evaluations, or describing how teachers have motivated you.
3. Save the final video on OneDrive or Google Drive and submit it along with receipts for reimbursement to Ms. Yumi Ye by 5 PM, 15 August 2025 (Friday).
Awards and Recognition
- Winning videos will be showcased on campus digital signage, the FHM website, and the Comparative Cultures of Care project’s website.
- Reimbursements will be processed by October 2025.
