Beliefs about Learning
Beginning Principals:
1. Are self-directed learners.
2. Need a solid knowledge of themselves - including their
strengths and weaknesses.
3. Learn through personal reflection, questioning and feedback
from experienced colleagues.
4. Need an intentional and personalised design to guide their
ongoing learning.
5. Have many commitments and demands on their time.
6. Bring with them a wide range of experience, knowledge,
skills, interests, and competencies to all learning.
7. Are experienced school leaders in their own right and must
be respected as such.
8. Must see relevance in their learning and receive accurate
feedback about their progress.
9. Need ample opportunity to share and learn from each other.
