About blue skies

The metaphor blue skies portrays a number of images. The first is
that as beginning principals we see our jobs in a positive and hopeful
light. Even when the inevitable clouds and fog form in the sky during

our early years, we see the cracks of blue peeping through and watch
them grow as the clouds and mist clear. Working closely with our
staff, students and the broader community, we see through the
clouds and to a brighter future.

Second, when blue skies fill the expanse above us, they expose space
for almost limitless exploration, movement and potential. As
Beginning Principals, we see the possibilities ahead of us to improve
the learning and lives of our students and realize that change and

innovation can take multiple paths, and that these paths are limited
only by our imagination and our capacity.
