Who is involved?
Beginning Principals
Blue skies engages Beginning Principals voluntarily over an immediate
period of about ten months. Normally, until the end of their second
year in post. We hope that principals will use their involvement to
develop the ‘habit’ of learning and carry this with them throughout
their principalship. It is designed to fit with the overall Hong Kong
Principal Professional Development Framework and with other
programmes offered for Newly Appointed Principals in Hong Kong.
Expectations
If approached correctly, ongoing professional learning will be a natural
outcome of participation in the programme. It will provide Beginning
Principals with:
A regular ‘in-the-diary’ opportunity to meet face-to-face
with other Beginning Principals.
A dedicated blue skies Sponsor - committed to providing
structured, needs-based support and advice.
A guided, structured self-analysis process to help identify
ways to improve schools and leadership.
Advice and guidance from respected and experienced
principals and consultants.
The chance to listen to some very successful, high profile
leaders.
Greater understanding of themselves within the context of
school reform and improvement.
A set of readings which include basic ideas about ways to
deal with many of the day-to day aspects of a principal’s life.
