Stakeholders in the School Setting
The typical legal entities that play a role in school management
include:
i. The School Sponsoring Body
ii. The Incorporated Management Committee
iii. The Supervisor
iv. The PTA
v. The Alumni Association
w. In this section, we shall examine the respective roles of these
stakeholders relative to a beginning principal. In doing so, it is
important to note that there were changes to the Education
Ordinance in 2004 that redefine the roles of these stakeholders.
Therefore the context of each stakeholder may be different,
depending on firstly whether the school is an aided school or a
direct subsidy scheme school and whether or not the school is
managed by an incorporated management committee.
The Education Ordinance now requires the sponsoring body of an
aided school to submit a draft of the constitution for an Incorporated
3
Management Committee before 1 July 2009 . Pending such an
application an aided school will continue to be managed by its
management committee (s. 32)
