Mr Tung Chee-hwa, the Chief Executive of the
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Mr Ronald Arculli,
GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club joined a cheerful
group of students of the Hong Kong Institute of Education
Jockey Club Primary School at its Opening Ceremony held on
18 February, sharing their joy of learning over books and
games.
Laughter filled the English Language Room of the School as
the two dignitaries joined 26 students in story telling and
games during a tour of the School. The activities are typical
of the many interactive and innovative teaching approaches
practised at the School everyday.
Mr Tung and Mr Arculli met the students before officiating
at the opening ceremony which was conducted by four students
in Cantonese, English and Putonghua, languages commonly used
in daily teaching and activities at the School.
In support of the innovative concept of a "school for
the future" that HKIEd proposed in 1997, the Hong Kong
Jockey Club Charities Trust donated $92.74 million for the
establishment of the School inside the HKIEd campus.
