I-WELL is dedicated to providing evidence-based training and development services, with a particular focus on supporting teacher training and collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland China. In 2024, the center organized a series of special education-themed training activities for all teachers from Damin School, the only full-time school for children with intellectual disabilities in Ningbo City. A total of 33 teachers participated in the week-long training courses (First batch: October 21-25, 2024; Second batch: December 2-6, 2024). The training emphasized expert insights and practices in special education, visits to special schools in Hong Kong, and discussions on the development of special education in both regions.
The expert team shared lectures on themes such as "When Children with Autism Encounter the Montessori Method", "Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities Using Artificial Intelligence", "Applying Artificial Intelligence in Special Education" and "Sharing Evidence-Based Practices for Adolescents with Intellectual Disabilities". They also visited Haven of Hope Sunnyside School and Lutheran School for the Deaf to understand their educational models and facilities, as well as to gain first-hand insights into the learning environments for students with hearing impairments.
The expert team delivered lectures on topics such as "Interpreting Assessments, Theories, and Training for Children with Autism", "Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technology in Special Education", "Interpreting Ideas" and "Communication Challenges and Support Strategies for Speech Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders". They also visited Hong Chi Winifred Mary Cheung Morninghope School, Church of Christ in China Kei Shun Special School, and HHCKLA Buddhist Po Kwong School to gain first-hand insights into the rehabilitation services, teaching facilities, and models provided by these schools.
