Bioanalytical Laboratory for Educational Sciences (BLESS) was established at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) by Dr. Lau Kwok Wai Way, Assistant Professor, Department of Special Education and Counselling and Co-opted Professional Member of Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) in March 2020. It started providing services in July, 2020. It is the first interdisciplinary research laboratory at EdUHK. BLESS is a unique and innovative set-up for educational sciences. It is primarily designed for supporting research in a wide range of areas of expertise in the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD). BLESS could facilitate interdisciplinary research across academic departments in EdUHK and beyond by providing support on experiments with biological analyses and giving both objective and scientific evidence to support researchers’ studies.
BLESS includes biological testing services for researchers to examine different biomarkers that infer treatment efficacy OR identify abnormal cases in mental disorders and selected SEN (depending on the research focus of the project proponents). We employ only recognized methods and procedures for biophysiological analysis. With our bioanalytical equipment and instruments, different types of enzymes/ hormone / protein / peptide levels in human samples could be tested.
