Abstract / Project Summary

Current technology holds great potential for learning activities in the special education area. Alternative ways of interaction with computers, fast-responding processors, high definition animated graphics, and communication / collaboration over the internet facilitate better learning environments for children with Special Education Needs (SEN).

The proposed smart & ergonomic study hub will be covered in ABC plus concepts, which are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data (BD), and Cloud Computing (CC) plus sensorimotor supports (furniture). Under the ABC concept, there are six areas in the smart learning hub, such as creative, investigative, idea development, presentation, exchange, and interactive. We will select 30 children with SEN ages from 3 to 8 to join the pilot study. The proposed project wants to investigate the design of the smart learning hub to enhance children’s executive function and learning motivation.

Instruments
  • A smart study hub and report system of sensorimotor supports (table & chair) with web interface
  • Affective Computing
  • Human Action Recognition
  • Eye Tracking Analysis
  • Cognitive games for executive function
  • Evaluation of learning effectiveness
Social Impact

The innovative smart and ergonomic study hub leverages Edubrain analysis and cutting-edge technology to create optimal learning environments at home and in schools, enhancing children's executive functions, supporting special educational needs (SEN), and offering immersive educational experiences like virtual science experiments and historical field trips. This exemplary hub sets a benchmark for smart learning, making assessment services accessible and fostering self-development, social harmony, and reduced family burdens.
