On 9 May 2024 (Thu), 17 special educators from Beijing, Xiamen, Guangzhou and Wenzhou visited the Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL), including Primary School Teachers, Teaching Officers, Chief Executives, Program Managers and District Supervisors, etc., who are from different fields of special education.
Dr YUM Yen Na, Cherry, Acting Head of the Department of Special Education & Counselling, Dr LIU Duo, Associate Head of the Department, Dr WANG Li-Chih, Director of the Centre and Prof. LEUNG Chi-hung, Co-Director of the Centre, shared the current policy on integrated education in Hong Kong, the latest trend of the department and the professional development programmes.
Prof. Leung made use of practical examples, demonstrated diversified assessment tools and shared project results to bring out the strengths of integrated education in Hong Kong.
The delegation was very interested in the assessment tools, such as electroencephalogram (EEG), eye tracker and the Hong Kong Scales for Assessment of Theory of Mind (HKAToM) especially in the support for children with dyslexia, which laid a foundation for further exchange and collaboration with the mainland in the future.
