The two-day "EDTECH Conference 2022" was successfully held from 9th - 10th June 2022 (Thursday to Friday). This conference was co-organized by the Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) and the Knowledge Transfer Sub-office of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) with the theme of "Innovation and Development of Technology in Special Education". Over 200 scholars, special education professionals and Educational Technology (EDTECH) entrepreneurs attended. They shared and exchanged ideas via hybrid mode (Online and Face to Face at EdUHK), so as to further enhance the learning and teaching in special education.
The conference featured 3 keynote addresses and 29 sharing sessions. Scholars and frontline workers from local, mainland China and overseas shared the development and achievements of applied educational technology in the field of special education.
During the conference, Professor Tong Kai-yu, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Dr Wong Meng Ee, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Child & Human Development at the National Institute of Education of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore; and Dr Li Chun-hung, CEO of Autoba Limited were invited to deliver keynote addresses.
Professor Tong introduced the most advanced technology-assisted rehabilitation training system and illustrated how to adopt these technologies in special education. Dr Wong presented the use of assistive technology in supporting students with disabilities and shared some fundamental questions central to assistive technology selection; while Dr Li has explained the advantages of using artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the concentration level among SEN students.
At the closing ceremony, the Director of Knowledge Transfer Professor Chow Cheuk Fai Stephen, express his thankfulness to all the attendees in his speech. And he said, "I believe the communications will not close with this ceremony. We would continue the momentum of knowledge transfer and education technology development to create value for education, technology and business advancement. More importantly, to build a more harmonious and better learning environment.”
