On October 29, 2024, the Graduate School hosted the Inaugural Meeting of the Doctoral Alumni Core Group. 18 participants, including 15 alumni, joined the meeting.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr Yanmin Zhao from the Committee on Alumni Activities of the Graduate School. Dr Zhao highlighted the vital role of alumni support in enriching the experiences of current doctoral students. Following this, all members introduced themselves, sharing their current affiliations and diverse research interests.

Dr Liubov Darzhinova, Chairperson of the Doctoral Alumni Core Group, announced that the Core Group will spearhead various initiatives oriented at both alumni and students. These initiatives include broadcasting alumni stories, leading skill-building workshops, providing mentorship for current doctoral students, organizing homecoming as part of the International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School, among others. The Core Group members then engaged in a discussion about the proposed events, outlining their respective roles and responsibilities.

Representatives of the Core Group are organizing online information seminars about the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and EdUHK’s PhD program.
