Past Events

On November 15, 2024, the Graduate School hosted its third online information seminar about the EdUHK’s PhD program and the existing funding opportunities, such as the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and the EdUHK Research Postgraduate Studentship. 20 registrants from Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mainland China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, and Russia took part in the seminar.

On November 12, 2024, the Graduate School held its second online information seminar about the PhD program offered by EdUHK and the available scholarship opportunities, including the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and the EdUHK Research Postgraduate Studentship. A total of 22 registrants from Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Mainland China, Morocco, Myanmar, Philippines, and Russia tuned in to the event.

On November 9, 2024, the Graduate School hosted an informative Alumni Sharing session titled “The Making of a Scholar: Practical Tips for Doctoral Students and Early Career Success.” Approximately 40 doctoral students attended the event led by EdD alumni Dr Maxwell Ho, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Policy and Leadership and Associate Co-Director of the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation and Research Fellow at the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change at EdUHK.

On November 8, 2024, the Graduate School held an online information seminar focused on the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and the PhD and MEd programs offered by the Education University of Hong Kong. 63 attendees from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mainland China, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Somaliland, South Africa, Turkey, and Vietnam joined the online seminar.

Professor Chetwyn Chan, Vice President (Research and Development), led a delegation at the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2024, held from November 5 to 7, 2024, in Macau. The delegation included the Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, GS colleagues, and Faculty representatives.

Professor Paul Kim, Director of the Center for Future Education at Beanstalk Education Group and Former Chief Technology Officer and Associate Dean of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education, delivered two seminars and two workshops related to Artificial Intelligence and future learning in marginalized communities.

On October 30, 2024, Ambassador Mr Wang Shiting, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Foreign Affairs University, visited The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) to provide guidance and engage with postgraduate students. A total of 31 postgraduate students participated in this meeting with the ambassador.

On October 30, 2024, the Graduate School organized an online seminar, “Conducting and Disseminating Mixed Methods Research,” led by Professor Guofang Li, a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Transnational/Global Perspectives of Language and Literacy Education of Children and Youth at the University of British Columbia, Canada. There were over 160 staff and postgraduate students joining in the seminar.

On October 29, 2024, the Graduate School hosted the Inaugural Meeting of the Doctoral Alumni Core Group. 18 participants, including 15 alumni, joined the meeting.
