The Roles of the Graduate School
- To be responsible for developing, managing, monitoring and ensuring the quality of the Research Postgraduate (RPg) and Doctor of Education (EdD) programmes, to work closely with Departments, Faculties and Research Centres in recruiting high-quality RPg and doctoral students; and to provide secretarial support to the Board of Graduate Studies (BGS) in allocating UGC-funded RPg places;
- To work closely with Research Centres, Faculties, and Departments to develop a conducive research environment for grooming RPg and doctoral students and monitoring their academic progress;
- To coordinating with faculties and departments in the development, implementation, administration and quality assurance and enhancement (QA/E) of the Master of Education (MEd) programme;
- To assist the BGS in policy formulation, regular review and update of policies, guidelines and regulations, and QA/E on all higher degree programmes and related matters;
- To promote synergy and articulation in developing, implementing, marketing and managing the various types of higher degree programmes of the University; and
- To be responsible for monitoring and enhancing the quality of research supervision and to work closely with Departments, Faculties, and Research Centres in organizing research supervision training programmes for potential research supervisors and appointed supervisors who have no prior research supervision experience.
- To support the BGS in coordinating with the Faculties on the strategic planning of higher degrees programmes (in areas such as programme offering, internationalization, international benchmarking, student support, learning and teaching), and the monitoring of consistency and academic standards across all higher degrees programmes.
