On the completion of this Second Major, students will be able to:

  • gain specialised subject knowledge in Music;
  • demonstrate a solid foundation of knowledge and skills in Music and related academic competencies to meet their future music and education-related career needs; and
  • pursue for professional excellence and are committed to lifelong learning in Music.
Pre-requisite Requirements and Other Conditions for Declaring a Second Major
  • Level 3 or above in Music in HKDSE; OR
  • satisfactory performance in music practical test (obtain qualification of Grade 6 or above (Royal Schools of Music or equivalent)

30 cps (3 cps/course)

Remarks

All Second Majors will not lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Teaching practice or immersion/internship will not be arranged/ involved for students of Second Major.

Important Notes
  • Students who take Music as the Second Major are required to take any ten courses out of the fourteen courses.
  • When you have completed all the prescribed Second Major courses and requirements, you are required to declare the Second Major with the Registry in the final semester (within two weeks after the add/drop period according to the Academic Calendar of the respective academic year) of your study. Online declaration form and details can be found via The Portal (under 'Second Major/Minor(s)' on the left panel of the homepage). Intranet announcement of submission/declaration procedures and deadline will be made by Registry via The Portal after the add/drop period. Declaration made after the deadline will not be processed.

 

Any aspect of the course and course offerings (including, without limitation, the content of the course and the manner in which the course is taught) may be subject to change at any time at the sole discretion of the University. Without limiting the right of the University to amend the course and its course offerings, it is envisaged that changes may be required due to factors such as staffing, enrolment levels, logistical arrangements, curriculum changes, and other factors caused by unforeseeable circumstances. Tuition fees, once paid, are non-refundable.
