The Global Empowerment Project: English for All in Indonesia

The project took place from May 11-18, 2024. It involved 14 EdUHK students and 3 ELE colleagues (Dr. Ju Seong Lee, Dr. Tim Taylor, and Dr. April Liu). The team created 5 digital storybooks and taught English at 3 local schools, positively impacting over 2,000 students through the donation of digital storybooks. They also engaged in Indonesian culture and partnered with UNS on a community project to boost a local coffee shop's global presence. This empowering experience showcased the importance of collaboration, education, and cultural exchange.

This was more than just an educational expedition - it was a holistic experience of classroom teaching, cultural exchange, English education, and community engagement. The team gained invaluable experiences and left with a vision to continue and expand their efforts, focusing on high-quality research, caring teaching, and community involvement to drive lasting positive change.
