I have a strong interest in human flourishing and in the ways in which culture and the arts—literature, film, and theatre—can contribute to health and well-being. Equally strong is my commitment to the cinemas of small nations, to transnational cinemas, and to creative processes that involve collaboration between the Global North and Global South.
Students with research ideas falling into the following broad categories are very welcome to reach out to me for an initial discussion:
- Environmental aesthetics
- Creativity under constraint
- Cultural production in the context of health and well-being
- Medi-cinema
- The role of risk in the creative arts
- Cultural policy
- Film education
- Transnational cinema
- Talent development in the creative arts
