To enhance interaction between research postgraduate students and professors, the Faculty of Humanities held the “Research Postgraduate Student Gathering 2021/22” on 17 Feb 2022. Professors have shared their rich research experiences and RPg students from different departments and at different stages of their studies came together to share their learning experiences at the Education University of Hong Kong and learn about research.
In his welcoming speech, Prof John Erni, Faculty Dean, called upon students “to learn to unravel complex problems and become an impactful problem-solver”. He added, “Your supervisors are a good first point of contact who can signpost you to appropriate support services.” He urged students to look out for academic events organised by the Faculty.
We are honoured to invite Prof Lo Sing Kai, Dean of Graduate School, who shared with us the additional grants for supporting our research activities. Dr Michelle Gu, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies), welcomed our new students, introduced the research community and shared with us the research interests and publications of our research students.
We are grateful to have our Chair Professors, Prof Dennis Cheng and Prof Zhu Qingzhi, to share with us their fruitful research experience. Prof Cheng highlighted the merits of cross-disciplinary research and encouraged students to extend and expand their research to other areas. Prof Zhu emphasised the importance of selecting a research topic that has potential for long-term study. “New theories provide us research perspectives to explore the new value of old materials.” He said.
Finally, two research students shared their research achievements and experience. The gathering ended successfully.
