The Faculty of Humanities Awards Outstanding Faculty Members and Students at the Faculty Assembly 2017/18

The Faculty of Humanities (FHM) of The Education University of Hong Kong held the Faculty Assembly on 29 August 2017 to welcome new students joining the FHM big family. Over 300 students and staff members attended the event.
The Faculty Assembly started with the welcoming speech of the Acting Dean, Professor Tong Ho Kin, who encouraged students to seize the opportunities provided by the University and the Faculty to learn and excel with open mind and sense of curiosity.
FHM also awarded the outstanding academic/teaching staff members and students at the Faculty Assembly. This year, two academic staff members, Dr Frankie Yu Yuen Yee, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chinese Language Studies and Dr David Kang Jong Hyuk, Assistant Professor of the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies were awarded the Faculty Teaching Awards. They had demonstrated exemplary performance and achievements in teaching. Besides, 86 non-final year students who had attained a minimum Year GPA of 3.5 throughout the academic year with good Field Experience performance were also recognised on the Dean’s Honour List.
Taking the opportunity, Dr Alice Chow Wai Kwan, the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), introduced the programme structures and the programme leaders of each undergraduate programme to the new students as well. Three senior year students, Ms Charlene Yau Wai Lam of the Bachelor of Education (Chinese Language) programme, Ms Amy Chung Lai Yan of the Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language programme and Ms Kaur Randeep Renu of the Bachelor of Education (English Language) programme shared with the audience their valuable experiences in award attainment, field experience and overseas immersion respectively.
Group photos were taken at the end of the Faculty Assembly. Staff members and students were all excited to capture the precious moments with their friends. Followings are some snapshots of the event.
