The Faculty Assembly started with the welcoming speech of the Dean, Professor Tong Ho Kin, who encouraged students to treasure every learning opportunity and stay positive when facing difficulties.
FHM also awarded the outstanding academic/teaching staff members and students at the Faculty Assembly. This year, the Faculty Teaching Awards were presented to three academic/teaching staff for their exemplary performance and achievements in teaching. Dr Wang Lixun, Associate Professor of the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies (LML) was awarded the Faculty Teaching Award. Dr Ho Chi Hang, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL) and Ms Lin Yanyan Catherine, Lecturer II of the Centre for Language in Education (CLE) were awarded the Certificate of Merit. Besides, 98 students who had attained a minimum Year GPA of 3.5 throughout the academic year with good Field Experience performance were also recognised on the Dean’s Honour List.
Taking this opportunity, Dr Wang Lixun, the Associate Dean (Quality Assurance and Enhancement), introduced the programme structures and the programme leaders of each undergraduate programme to the new students as well. Five senior year students, Mr Chu Wai Yin Joshua of the Bachelor of Education (English Language) programme, Mr Yam Wai Chiu of the Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language programme, Miss Hung Po Ling of the Bachelor of Education (Chinese History) programme, Mr Ng Chun Fung Alvin of the Bachelor of Education (English Language) programme and Mr Yiu Wing Lun Max of the Bachelor of Education (Chinese Language) programme also shared with the audience their valuable experiences in overseas immersion, field experience, overseas learning, summer course learning and an inspiring story about overcoming difficulties respectively.
