The Faculty Assembly of FHM was successfully held on 28 August 2019 to welcome all new students. Over 250 students, guests and academic staff members attended the event.

The Assembly started with the welcoming speech of the Dean, Professor Tong Ho Kin, followed by the presentation of awards to outstanding academic/teaching staff members and students. This year, three academic/teaching staff were awarded the Faculty Teaching Award for their exemplary performance and achievements in teaching, including the awardee, Dr Tse Chun Yip from the Centre for Language in Education (CLE), and two recipients for the Certificate of Merit, Ms Wang Chanjuan from the Department of Chinese Language Studies and Ms Keung Shuet from the CLE. Besides, 113 students who had attained a minimum Year GPA of 3.5 throughout the academic year with good Field Experience performance were also recognised on the Dean’s Honour List.

Taking this opportunity, Dr Cheung Lin Hong, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), introduced the programme structures and the programme leaders of each undergraduate programme to the new students. Three senior students, Ms Guan Jinglin June of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Language Studies programme, Mr Lee Chun Fan Angus of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Chinese Language) programme and Ms Jamie Law of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Language Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (English Language) programme also shared their local and overseas experiential learning experiences and inspirational stories at the assembly.
