Tell the Story of Your Inquiry
As a requirement of this Links programme, all participants are asked to undertake
an inquiry (in an Alliance) and to present a report to their peers and colleagues.
As a part of this project you are asked to write a brief report in narrative format
(maximum 5 pages, A4).
The most important part of the entire process is your presentation to your
colleagues. The written part should only be a short ‘story’ or narrative of your
inquiry. It should be descriptive piece rather than investigative. It can also,
however, be written as a case study if you are not comfortable writing in the first
person.
In your story or narrative, you may choose to include information about the
following — this is NOT compulsory. You may, for example, choose to focus on a
specific aspect of the inquiry or tell the whole story.
1 Describe the field of inquiry
Set the scene — what made you think of this issue?
What were the ‘terms of the inquiry’?
2 Talk about your lines of inquiry
What are the questions that you have sought to answer?
What did you investigate?
3 Provide background information
What did your background research reveal?
4 Describe the inquiry process
Describe what happened, talk about people, ideas, meetings, fears
and concerns, joyous moments, creative moments, insights, and more
if you so wish.
5 Discuss the impact of your inquiry
Reflect on the process of inquiry and what you have gained personally.
What was the impact of your inquiry?
What have you learnt about your school?
What have you learnt about your own leadership?
