Association, Council Member of the World Educational Research Association (WERA),
Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Educational Administration, and Advisory
Board Member of the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change, The Education
University of Hong Kong. He is acknowledged as the leading figure who has been
advancing the field of educational leadership and educational capacity building. His
writing contributions encompass and include, educational thought, life long, life wide
and perpetual learning, family and societal development, character development and
integrity, high order cognitive competencies, teaching-learning, educational research,
and the quest for virtues, and pursuit of wisdom. He continues to contribute through
governmental and voluntary organizations, writings in academia and mass media,
public presence as keynote speaker, and member of Think Tank. His newspaper column
As I Wander continues for many years. In 2016, he was also awarded the Outstanding
National Educator Award and the Malaysian Literary Award in the Essay/Literary Critic
Category (Hadith Sastera Perdana Malaysia 2014). He has supervised Masters and
Doctoral Degree Students and has written several hundred academic and general
articles. He is the recipient of the National Educational Leadership Award, the highest
Educational Leadership Award in Malaysia awarded only to a few individuals who have
demonstrated distinguished and exemplary leadership across institutional, national
and international contexts. In addition, for his leadership and contributions in to the
profession and society at the national and international levels, he was awarded the
Honorary Doctorates by the Education University of Malaysia, the University of Malaya
and the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). He is
Member of Board of Governors of the Sultan Idris Education University, Panel Member
of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, Senior Fellow of Universiti Islam Malaysia and
Member of the Global Wisdom Project, Visiting and Adjunct Professor at a number of
Universities, Member of Academic Board of the Razak School of Government, and
Board Member of the National Institute of Integrity (IIM). Member, Committee for
Global Religious Understanding and Harmony, National Unity Department.
