On the Spirit and Quintessence of the Classics

Throughout human history, the classics, in varying cultural contexts, have been renewed and revivified, insofar as they are texts that seem to have never lost their resonance with the minds and hearts of peoples living in different ages. How have the classics, as a part of the vast flow of history, gone through the processes of both “canonization” and “popularization”, such that their core messages continue to animate our thinking? In the forum, Prof Cheng Kat Hung, Prof Ng On-Cho and Prof Hon Tze-Ki will share their views on the quintessence and enduring influences of the classics, using examples to illustrate their contemporary relevance.

Speakers: Prof Cheng Kat Hung (Chair Professor of LCS Department), Prof Ng On-Cho (Visiting Professor of LCS Department), Prof Hon Tze-Ki (City University of Hong Kong)

Language: Putonghua/English
